Joe the Stork-Coastal Bird Gift-Handmade Metal Balance Model

Joe the Stork is a handmade metal stork standing tall on his perch, long beak poised, watching a little green fish swinging below him on the pendulum. Balanced on a hidden counterweight, he rocks gently from side to side at the lightest touch, his head bobbing softly up and down as if scanning the water for his catch.

Each piece is cut, shaped, assembled and hand-painted in a traditional blacksmith's workshop, in the spirit of the painted tinplate balancing toys of the Victorian and Edwardian nursery. Made in small batches, so no two are exactly the same, the little differences in the brushwork are the mark of proper handmade work.
