Moonlight Melody is a handmade metal Pierrot sat in the curve of a crescent moon, plucking his lyre under a scatter of little painted stars. Balanced on a hidden counterweight, the moon rocks gently from side to side at the lightest touch, and as it moves his arms rise and fall as if playing the strings, while his leg sways in time, before settling back to rest.

Each piece is cut, shaped, assembled and hand-painted in a traditional blacksmith's workshop, in the spirit of the painted tinplate balancing toys of the Victorian and Edwardian nursery. Made in small batches, so no two are exactly the same, the little differences in the brushwork are the mark of proper handmade work.

A lovely gift for anyone drawn to the night sky, harvest moons and midsummer evenings, or to the old world of Pierrot, mime, opera and moonlit theatre.
