Queen of Hearts is a handmade metal queen in full regalia, crowned and dressed in bold red, blue and gold, holding her sceptre and fan with a proper air of storybook drama. Balanced on a hidden counterweight decorated with a heart and diamond motif, she sways gently at the lightest touch, with a matching miniature sceptre swinging below.

Each piece is cut, shaped, assembled and hand-painted in a traditional blacksmith's workshop, in the spirit of the painted tinplate balancing toys of the Victorian and Edwardian nursery. Made in small batches, so no two are exactly the same, the little differences in the brushwork are the mark of proper handmade work.
