Seaside Sailor-Rowing Boat Gift-Handmade Rocking Metal Sculpture

Seaside Sailor is a handmade metal sailor in a little rowing boat, sat in his sailor's cap and jumper, oars in hand. Balanced on a hidden counterweight, the boat rocks gently from side to side at the lightest touch, and as it moves the sailor sways with it, his arms pulling the oars back and forth in a steady rowing rhythm before settling back to rest.

Each piece is cut, shaped, assembled and hand-painted in a traditional blacksmith's workshop, in the spirit of the painted tinplate balancing toys of the Victorian and Edwardian nursery. Made in small batches, so no two are exactly the same, the little differences in the brushwork are the mark of proper handmade work.
